Viscosity Theatre is proud to present the world premier of local veteran actor Hugh Bickley’s debut play. Holocene tells the story of one family of misfits in their struggle to salvage culture after the fall of human civilization.
Directing Holocene is veteran actor and burgeoning director, Sam Williamson (Macbeth, Circle Mirror Transformation), and an all-Missoula cast: Kurtis Hassinger, Kate Scott, Sean Kirkpatrick, Colton Swibold, Alexsa Prince, Logan La Cross, and Nick Pavelich.
In the final days of human civilization, a middle-aged schoolteacher struggles to stage the world’s last play. Serving as the head of humanity’s last bastion of academia behind the walls of a territory erected during an apocalypse hundreds of years ago, his efforts to bridge the generational gap of an infertile, illiterate populace prove futile as his students grow into adults and look for the first time to new horizons. Now facing both the end of his bloodline and the inevitable estrangement of his wife, he endeavors to find meaning in a life that may leave no trace. Part ghost story, part cautionary tale, Holocene is the telling of the end of our world… and the beginning of another.
The show’s two week run opens on Sunday, September 21st at The Palace Lounge in downtown Missoula, MT. Show starts at 7pm on the following days: Sept. 21st – 23rd, Sept. 25th, Sept. 28th – 30th, and October 1st – 3rd.
